Supporting Rob’s Dogs and Our Island's Four-Legged Locals

Life on Koh Samui is full of beauty—white-sand beaches, coconut palms swaying in the breeze, and the gentle hum of island life. But there’s another side to paradise that often goes unnoticed: the island’s stray cat & dog population.

Several dogs walk along a quiet, tree-lined road under a blue sky. Lush greenery surrounds the concrete path, creating a peaceful scene.

Thankfully, we’re lucky to have organisations like Rob’s Dogs, a local charity doing incredible work to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome Samui’s street dogs & cat’s.Without them, the island would be overrun. For many of us working in weddings and hospitality, Rob’s Dogs has become an essential part of our community. When a stray puppy wanders into a resort, when a beach dog needs urgent care or when a new litter of kittens is found—this is who we call.

Three cats snuggle together on a gray blanket. One is asleep, while the others appear relaxed. The mood is cozy and peaceful.

Our founder, Juliette, knows this all too well—she’s rescued three puppies and five kittens over the years. One of them, Boba, a beautiful street dog, was rescued during the height of COVID. Rebecca at Rob’s Dogs immediately stepped in to offer help, arranging for Boba to be neutered and then a few years later, when three tiny kittens were discovered in a friend’s tree, Rob’s Dogs once again came to the rescue, helping ensure they were all vaccinated and sterilised. Whenever we can, we try to donate to the charity, and we’ve even suggested villas add donation boxes to support the cause.

We were recently reminded of the importance of their work when a friend of ours rescued a sweet little puppy from a temple—one of many strays living there. It was clear the temple couldn’t provide proper long-term care. With so many dogs on site, resources are stretched thin, and without help, that pup might never have had the chance at a safe, secure future. Thanks to the support network that Rob’s Dogs has helped build, that lucky pup is now beginning preparations to fly to a loving forever home in the UK.

At Weddings on Samui, we believe love comes in many forms—not just between two people, but in the care we show to our island, our community, and the animals we share it with. That’s why we’re proud to support Rob’s Dogs and have even helped couples build their cause into their wedding day.

Last year, Andrew and Golf chose to offer a donation option in place of traditional wedding gifts, inviting their guests to support Rob’s Dogs instead. It was a beautiful, meaningful gesture that made a real difference. We’ve also had other guests contribute over the years, and we’re always happy to help arrange charitable options for those wanting to give back.

We’ve had guests ask how they can help, and the best way to do so? Support the local charities and rescue groups working tirelessly behind the scenes—Rob’s Dogs is just one of the incredible teams making a real impact here on the island. Whether it’s through donations, adopting, fostering, or simply spreading the word, every little action goes a long way.

Our suppliers, venues, and even our couples are part of a wider ecosystem here. Without these kinds of charities, we’d have nowhere to turn when one of our rescues needs help—no safety net, no second chances. And if you’ve ever seen a beach pup curled up under your ceremony arch or trotting happily down the sand beside you, you’ll know how much they’re part of this island’s story too.

If you’d like to get involved or learn more, visit Rob’s Dogs website. And if you’re planning your wedding with us and want to include a way to give back, just let us know—we’d love to help you make it part of your celebration.

Because love isn’t just something we celebrate—it’s something we pass on.
